100% owned by Estonian consumers, Coop Eesti is the oldest and largest group operating jointly in the field of retail trade in Estonia. Today, 18 independent regional consumer cooperatives operate under this name with a total of nearly 320 stores, 6,000 employees and 70,000 client owners, or members of the cooperative, who are also equal owners of these cooperatives. The first consumer cooperative was founded in Antsla in 1902, after which hundreds of consumer cooperatives have been established in Estonia, which today have been consolidated into 18 cooperatives. In order for cooperatives to be stronger together, they founded Coop Eesti Keskühistu (old name ETK) in 1917, which supports the work of regional cooperatives with marketing, logistics, purchasing goods and development activities.
